๐ Week four in unemployment land. Here's how it's going:
๐ I've rediscovered my love of my local library. After working on content for two years, I've lost some of my reading stamina. It's funny: I wrote blogs and outlines for so long, that my mind has trouble focusing on stories for a long time. It's time to address that.
๐ฒ I connected with virtual friends in Spain, Denmark, and Canada. Platforms like Twitter and Discord are so undervalued. It's been fun talking with people about shared passions like anime and art again.
๐ I've applied to over a dozen jobs. Still no interviews but hey: that's to be expected. I'm pivoting to hybrid jobs to see if that works better for me. I read that remote work opportunities are on the decline in the United States (https://lnkd.in/eDaSxhN8). Is that true, friends? ๐ค
๐ฑ I am nursing some of my houseplants back to life. Moving into a new apartment is a surefire way to kill your plants, y'all.
๐ I applied for unemployment insurance and food stamps. I received an obtuse comment on my previous update from someone who said they spent several months in Italy while unemployed. While that sounds lovely, I found this person's decision to share this fact to be unproductive (at best) and out of touch (at worst). I'm apart of the 31% of Millenials who have less than $1,000 in savings (https://lnkd.in/eERV6_5r). So, I'm not sure what this fellow is talking about but my spouse and I can't travel out of the city, let alone out of the country.
How are my colleagues in unemployment land doing? How can we support each other?
